Gudcef CV 200 tablet is an antibiotic commonly prescribed to treat bacterial infections affecting the urinary tract, lungs, sinuses, throat, and windpipe. It contains a combination of Cefpodoxime and Clavulanic acid. Cefpodoxime works by destroying the bacterial cell wall, which helps stop the growth and spread of infection, while Clavulanic acid prevents the breakdown of cefpodoxime, ensuring its effectiveness. Together, they provide a powerful action against a wide range of bacterial infections.
This medicine should only be taken as directed by your doctor. It is very important to complete the full course of Gudcef CV 200 even if you start feeling better, as stopping early may lead to antibiotic resistance or a recurrence of infection. Missing doses or discontinuing treatment on your own reduces the effectiveness of therapy and may make the infection harder to treat in the future.
Gudcef CV 200 tablet should not be taken if you are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics or any of its ingredients. Signs of an allergic reaction may include rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, and medical attention should be sought immediately. Always inform your doctor about any history of drug allergies before starting this medicine.
Before beginning treatment, let your doctor know your complete medical history, including any liver, kidney, or gastrointestinal issues, and provide details of all medicines or supplements you are taking. This will help avoid unwanted interactions and ensure the antibiotic is safe and effective for you.
Other brands that contain the same combination of Cefpodoxime and Clavulanic acid include Monocef O CV 200 tablets, Swich CV tablets, Doxcef CV 200 tablets and Clavcep CV tablets. Your doctor may prescribe Gudcef CV 200 or any of these alternatives, depending on your condition and availability.

How Gudcef works
- Cefpodoxime controls the growth of bacteria and kills them by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. However, the bacteria make an enzyme (beta-lactamases) which can destroy Cefpodoxime.
- Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps Cefpodoxime to function optimally.
