Medical Description

Zobra 5 ml eyedrops contain a combination of Tobramycin and Benzalkonium. Tobramycin is an anti-inflammatory and anti-infective agent; benzalkonium is an antibiotic preservative. This product is used to treat bacterial eye infections. This medication should be continued for the dose and duration advised by the doctor. Store it at room temperature away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not touch the tip of the vial or dropper to avoid contamination. If you wear contact lenses, remove the contact lenses before putting in the eyes drops and wait until 15-20 minutes before putting them back in. Common side effects include redness, burning or swelling, but these will subside eventually. If you experience severe side effects, inform your doctor or rush to the nearest hospital.

Other General Warnings

Directions for Use

  • Zobra eye drops are used as an external application for the eyes as directed by the physician
  • Hold the bottle containing the medication in the inverted position or the dropper close to the eye, without touching it and gently squeeze the dropper and drop the medicine into the lower eyelid

Overdose

Overdose of Zobra eyedrops is unlikely as it is an eye drop medication; seek immediate medical help. However, upon accidental ingestion of the contents of this medication, side effects may be seen, but if it does not produce any life-threatening situations, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed a dose, put the eye drops as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your routine. Do not put twice the amount of drops at once.

How Does It Work?

Tobramycin and benzalkonium block the synthesis of the bacteria, thereby controlling the growth and spread of infection. Benzalkonium acts as a first aid antiseptic.

  • Simultaneous use of topical NSAIDs and topical steroids may interfere with the healing process

Along with ritonavir and cobicistat, patients on this medicine should be monitored for side effects of corticosteroids and Cushing's syndrome or suppression of the adrenal gland.
