  • Skin infections

Contraindications

If you or your child are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine or to penicillin or other cephalosporin antibiotics, do not use it. Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, as dose adjustment may be needed. Tell your doctor if you have a history of antibiotic allergies or severe digestive disorders.

Side effects

  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Rash
  • Vomiting
  • Headache

Directions for Use

Shake the suspension bottle well before each use. Use the measuring spoon, cup, or dropper supplied with the medicine to ensure the correct dose. Do not consume directly from the bottle. Give this medicine with food to avoid upset stomach. Ensure that your child completes the entire course of antibiotics even if they feel better. Quitting in between may cause bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.

Storage and disposal

Store Vercef syrup in a cool and dry place away from sunlight or as directed on the packaging, typically between 10 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius or below 30 degrees Celsius. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Check the expiry date before use.

Quick Tips

  • Do not use Vercef syrup for children less than 1 month of age.
  • Give this medicine with food to avoid upset stomach.
  • Make sure your child completes the entire course of antibiotics. Quitting midway may cause bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • If your child develops diarrhea, give plenty of water and continue the medicine unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.
  • Contact your doctor if side effects persist or new symptoms develop.
  • Shake well before each use to ensure proper mixing of the medicine.

Dosage

Overdose

If you think your child has taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not give a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Cefaclor kills bacteria by preventing them from forming their protective outer cell wall, which they need to survive and spread.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect how this syrup works. Tell your doctor about all medicines your child is taking. Antacids containing magnesium or aluminium can reduce the absorption of cefaclor if taken at the same time, so space these medicines apart. Your doctor should know about all other medicines to ensure safe combination.

Interactions with food items

Food does not significantly affect the absorption of this medicine, but giving it with food can help reduce stomach upset.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Shaking the bottle ensures that the medicine is evenly mixed and your child gets the correct dose every time.
While the medicine can be taken on an empty stomach, giving it with food can help reduce stomach upset and nausea in your child.
Diarrhea may occur as a common side effect. Ensure your child drinks plenty of water to stay hydrated. If diarrhea is severe or persistent, inform your doctor.
No. Complete the full course of antibiotics even if your child feels better. Stopping early may cause bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or lead to another infection.
