Vanlid 250 MG Description
Vanlid 250 mg injection is an antibiotic. Treating and managing several different types of bacterial infections, such as infectious endocarditis, bone infection, pneumonia, skin infections, etc., is
the primary use of the Vanlid 250 mg injection. This injection is also used to treat upper respiratory tract infections. This injection should be given intravenously or into the vein. The main component of this injection is Vancomycin. The mode of action of Vanlid 250 mg injections is to kill the bacteria and lower the infection and symptoms associated with the infection, such as fever, lethargy, etc. This medication is ineffective against infections caused by cold, flu, viruses, or fungi. This medicine can be given to adults and children of all ages. Diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting are some of the common side effects of the Vanlid 250 mg injection. Most of them do not require any medical attention. However, it is best to consult the doctor in case of persisting or worsening symptoms. It should be given only after the susceptibility of the bacteria is known, or else the bacteria can develop resistance against Vanlid injection.

Uses of Vanlid 250 MG
- As per CDSCO and USFDA, Vanlid 250 mg injection is indicated in the treatment of the following infections:
- Infective Endocarditis (infection of the heart lining and valves)
- Skin and skin structure infections
- Bone infections
- Lower respiratory tract infection
- Community-acquired pneumonia
- Hospital-acquired pneumonia, including ventilator-associated pneumonia
Contraindications of Vanlid 250 MG
- Vanlid 250 mg injection is contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you have a history of serious hypersensitivity to Vancomycin or other similar antibiotics. Allergy to this medicine is common. So, hypersensitivity should be checked before giving this injection.
- If you want to give this medicine intramuscularly (IM) or into the muscle. It can lead to necrosis at the site of injection.
- If you are not correctly diagnosed with a suspected bacterial infection. Using this medicine in such cases does not benefit the patient and increases the risk of developing treatment-resistant bacteria. ...
- If you have severe skin reactions, such s Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
- If you have a history of breathing disorders such as severe asthma. It increases the risk of an allergic reaction.
- If you have severe kidney impairment, this medicine's kidney function and serum levels should be checked, or it should not be given.
- If you are diagnosed with bacteria-associated diarrhoea. It has been reported with the use of nearly all antibiotics, including Vanlid 250 mg injection, and may range in severity from mild diarrhoea to fatal colitis. Treatment with antibiotics alters the colon's normal flora, leading to the overgrowth of bacteria....
- If you have an infusion reaction with symptoms such as low blood pressure, shock, or cardiac arrest.
- If you have been developing hearing or balance problems due to this medicine.
- If your blood tests show low white blood cell count after starting this injection.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Vanlid 250 MG
- Do not take this injection by yourself. Vanlid injection is given to the patient in the hospital by the doctor or a nurse.
- Do not stop using this injection in the middle of the treatment.
- Take this injection only into a vein or intravenously (IV) and never into the muscle (IM)
- Take this injection as an infusion.
- Follow the instructions given by the doctor during the injection and for aftercare.
- Inform your doctor immediately if you are having any breathing problems, rash, or swelling, at the site of injection.
- Take Vanlid 250 mg injection with or without food.
Interactions of Vanlid 250 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- It is not recommended to take Anesthetic medicines along with Vanlid 250 mg injections. It may result in erythema, redness, flushing, swelling, itching, and other allergy-like symptoms.
- Using other types of antibiotics such as Piperacillin and tazobactam in combination with Vanlid injection is not advised. It can lead to acute kidney injury. Hence, monitoring kidney function is required....
- Inform your doctor if you are using other medicines such as amphotericin B, aminoglycosides, bacitracin, polymixin B, colistin, viomycin or cisplatin, loop diuretics, and NSAIDs. Combining these medicines with Vanlid injection may cause toxicity to kidneys, ears, nerve cells, etc. ...
