Medical Description

Triactin MR tablet is used to relieve pain, swelling, and inflammatory conditions that affect the muscles or surrounding joints. It contains etoricoxib and thiocolchicoside as its active ingredients. This medicine works by blocking the inflammatory effects of the chemicals; it also inhibits signal transmission in the brain and spinal cord and relaxes contracted muscles. Thiocolchicoside acts as a muscle relaxant, whereas etoricoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID).

Triactin MR tablet should be taken as directed by the doctor, in the doses and for the duration prescribed. You can take this with or without food, but it is recommended to take it with meals to minimise the risk of an upset stomach.

Uses

  • Triactin MR Tablet is used to treat pain, swelling, and inflammation caused by muscle spasms, which occur in various conditions such as low back pain and muscle weakness.
  • It is also used to treat painful and inflammatory conditions related to joint problems, such as osteoarthritis, gout (characterised by pain and redness of joints due to the deposition of mineral crystals), and ankylosing spondylitis (an inflammatory disease affecting the spine and other large joints of the body).

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Certain substances in the body cause pain and inflammation, making the area red, swollen, and painful. Etoricoxib blocks inflammatory chemicals, gradually reducing symptoms. Brain and spinal cord signals cause muscle stiffness and pain. Thiocolchicoside interrupts this transmission, relieving spasms and pain. Consequently, it helps restore muscle and joint movement.
