Tetanus Antitoxin Injection 1ml
Tetanus Antitoxin 1500 IU Description
Tetanus Antitoxin injection contains Tetanus Toxoid, a bacterial vaccination. It protects against tetanus infection. Tetanus (also known as lockjaw) is a severe bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Clostridium tetani. It causes infected patients' jaw and neck muscles to lock up, making it difficult to open their mouths or swallow.
Tetanus toxoid vaccination protects against tetanus by generating a mild illness. It encourages our systems to create protective antibodies against the germs that cause tetanus. WHO recommends the tetanus vaccine as part of a childhood and adult vaccination plan. A booster dose of tetanus vaccine is typically required once every ten years to maintain protection. It can also be used after recent wounds or injuries that increase the chance of contracting tetanus infection.
Tetanus Antitoxin injection cannot treat a current tetanus infection that has already occurred in the body. It can only be used to prevent disease before you are exposed to the vulnerable bacteria. If you have an acute infection or have previously been allergic to vaccinations or blood products, you should not get Tetanus Antitoxin injection. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can use Tetanus Antitoxin injection if their doctor prescribes it.
Tetanus Antitoxin injection is generally safe and does not produce any adverse reactions. It may produce some modest adverse effects, such as discomfort and redness at the injection site or a low fever. These side effects are usually brief and disappear after a few days. However, if your symptoms increase, visit your doctor.
