Uses
- As per CDSCO & USFDA, Serenace is used in the following:
- Treatment of Schizophrenia
- Treatment of Tourette Syndrome
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to any component of the Serenace Tablet, i.e., Haloperidol.
- If you have Parkinson's disease.
- If you have dementia.
- If you are 65 years of age or above.
- If you are suffering from central nervous system depression
- If you have an uncontrolled seizure disorder
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you have heart disease.
- If you have kidney or liver problems.
- If you have severe respiratory issues.
Side effects

- Insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
- Shaking of hands or feet-tremor
- Dystonia (twisting & repetitive movements)

- You have any allergic reactions after taking Serenace Tablet.
- You have any suicidal ideation or self-harming thoughts.
- You experience any severe side effects persistently.
- Your symptoms do not improve, or there is worsening of your condition.
- You have trouble breathing or talking,
- You have a history of mild or severe liver or kidney conditions.
- You have withdrawal symptoms like agitation, nausea, tremor, sweating and confusion.
- You are using any ayurvedic or herbal medicines, vitamins and other health supplements.
Directions for Use
- Take the Serenace Tablet as prescribed by the doctor.
- You can take this medicine with or without food or as prescribed.
- Take this medication on a regular schedule, preferably at the same time every day.
- Do not break/crush the tablet or chew this medicine; take it as a whole.
- Do not take this tablet with other meds; consult your doctor first.
- Don’t stop taking this medication in between, as it may lead to withdrawal side effects.
- Do not consume if the package has been opened.
- Don’t exceed the dosage, even if you cannot feel its effects.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Anxiety meds, such as diazepam, clonazepam, chlordiazepoxide, alprazolam and lorazepam. You may experience sedation and drowsiness.
- Blood pressure-lowering medicine like amlodipine, lisinopril, losartan, or metoprolol may lower the blood pressure more than required.
- Pain killers, such as morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, hydrocodone, tramadol, and codeine. Interactions may cause more sedation and drowsiness.
- Anti-Parkinson medicines for such as levodopa.
- Interaction with Antifungal medications like itraconazole and ketoconazole can reduce the effects of it.
- Interaction with Antidepressants or mood-elevating medicines like fluoxetine and desipramine can cause increased side effects
Interactions with food items
- You can continue with the regular diet as food doesn’t influence the effect of the Serenace Tablet.
