Serenace 20 MG Description

Serenace 20mg Tablet is used to treat schizophrenia and Tourette Syndrome. Schizophrenic patients may experience delusions, hallucinations, extremely disordered thinking and behaviour, impairing func

tioning and disabling. Tourette disorder is a condition characterised by uncontrolled repeated movements, noises, or tics. Serenace Tablet contains Haloperidol as an active ingredient. Haloperidol belongs to an anti-psychotic class of medication. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that influences thoughts, emotions and mood. Serenace Tablet dosage should be taken as advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it can cause clinical worsening of your condition or may lead to withdrawal symptoms.

Contraindications of Serenace 20 MG

  • If you are allergic to any component of the Serenace Tablet, i.e., Haloperidol.
  • If you have Parkinson's disease.
  • If you have dementia.
  • If you are 65 years of age or above.
  • If you are suffering from central nervous system depression
  • If you have an uncontrolled seizure disorder
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have heart disease.
  • If you have kidney or liver problems.
  • If you have severe respiratory issues.

Serenace Tablet is unsafe during pregnancy as it may cause damage to the unborn child and cause harm to the mother. If you are expecting to become pregnant or are pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking the Serenace Tablet. If you encounter any discomfort, pain or any other undesirable symptoms after taking it, stop taking it and consult your doctor.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Serenace Tablet while breastfeeding?
Serenace Tablet is not recommended if you are a breastfeeding mother. Some research data suggest that this medicine may be excreted into the breastmilk and harm the baby. Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine.


Can I drive if I have taken Serenace Tablet?
Serenace Tablet may cause side effects that could affect your driving ability. It may decrease alertness, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy and lightheaded. If you are experiencing these side effects after taking this medicine, you should avoid driving.


Can I consume alcohol with the Serenace Tablet?
Consumption of alcohol while taking Serenace Tablet may worsen the disease and increase the chance of severe side effects including dizziness, concentration difficulties, poor thinking, increased sleepiness etc

Directions for Use of Serenace 20 MG

  • Take the Serenace Tablet as prescribed by the doctor.
  • You can take this medicine with or without food or as prescribed.
  • Take this medication on a regular schedule, preferably at the same time every day.
  • Do not break/crush the tablet or chew this medicine; take it as a whole.
  • Do not take this tablet with other meds; consult your doctor first.
  • Don’t stop taking this medication in between, as it may lead to withdrawal side effects.
  • Do not consume if the package has been opened.
  • Don’t exceed the dosage, even if you cannot feel its effects.

Interactions of Serenace 20 MG

Interactions with other medicines

  • Anxiety meds, such as diazepam, clonazepam, chlordiazepoxide, alprazolam and lorazepam. You may experience sedation and drowsiness.
  • Blood pressure-lowering medicine like amlodipine, lisinopril, losartan, or metoprolol may lower the blood pressure more than required.
  • Pain killers, such as morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, hydrocodone, tramadol, and codeine. Interactions may cause more sedation and drowsiness.
  • Anti-Parkinson medicines for such as levodopa.
  • Interaction with Antifungal medications like itraconazole and ketoconazole can reduce the effects of it.
  • Interaction with Antidepressants or mood-elevating medicines like fluoxetine and desipramine can cause increased side effects
