Contraindications of Rasalect 0.5 MG
- If you are allergic to rasagiline or any of the other ingredients of Rasalect 0.5 tablet.
- If you have problems with your liver.
- If you are taking medicines like monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors (used in psychiatric illnesses) or pethidine (used to treat pain). If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor....

Directions for Use of Rasalect 0.5 MG
- Rasalect 0.5 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
- Swallow it whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
- You should not consume more than that prescribed by your doctor.

- Store in a clean and dry place, protected from moisture, sunlight and heat.

Mode of Action of Rasalect 0.5 MG
How Does It Work?
- Rasagiline is a monoamine oxidase B inhibitor that prevents the action of the chemical monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B).
- In the brain, a chemical called dopamine is broken down by MAO-B.
- Dopamine plays a role in movement coordination and control in the brain.
- Rasagiline works by increasing the levels of dopamine in the parts of the brain responsible for controlling movement and coordination.
- This helps to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, such as stiffness, shakiness, and slowness of movement.
Interactions of Rasalect 0.5 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Rasalect 0.5 tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Especially if you are taking medicines to treat bacterial infections (ciprofloxacin) or other medicines used in Parkinson's disease (entacapone).
- Rasalect 0.5 tablet should not be used simultaneously along with other MAO inhibitors like isocarboxazid, selegiline (used in psychiatric illnesses), and pethidine (used to treat pain).
- The concomitant use of this medicine with sympathomimetics like ephedrine or pseudoephedrine (such as those present in nasal and oral decongestants or cold medicinal products) and dextromethorphan (cough suppressant) is not recommended....
- Concomitant use along with fluoxetine or fluvoxamine (used to manage depression and Parkinson's disease) should be avoided.
