Medical Description

Pyresia tablet is a pain-relieving and fever-reducing medicine used for mild to moderate pain and raised temperature. It contains paracetamol, also called acetaminophen, which reduces pain signals mainly in the brain and helps regulate body temperature. It may relieve headache, migraine, muscle and joint aches, toothache, period pain and sore throat discomfort. Pyresia tablet is taken by mouth as directed and provides temporary symptom relief without treating the underlying cause of persistent pain or fever. Seek assessment if symptoms continue or recur.

Uses

  • Headache and migraine pain: Relieves mild to moderate head pain, including migraine-related discomfort, to make routine activities easier.
  • Muscle and joint pain: Helps ease soreness, stiffness and discomfort affecting muscles or joints after everyday strain or other mild problems.
  • Toothache: Provides temporary relief from dental pain while the underlying tooth or gum problem receives dental assessment.
  • Fever: Lowers a raised body temperature and eases aches or discomfort that may accompany an infection.
  • Period pain: Temporarily relieves menstrual cramps and related lower abdominal discomfort during routine daily activities.
  • Sore throat pain: Eases throat discomfort associated with infections but does not treat the infection itself.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not use it. Do not use Pyresia tablet with another medicine containing paracetamol unless a clinician confirms that the total treatment is appropriate. Ask your doctor before use if you have liver disease, regular alcohol use, severe kidney disease or poor nutrition.

Side effects

  • Nausea: Paracetamol can cause queasiness or stomach discomfort in some people. Stop and seek advice if vomiting prevents you from keeping fluids down.
  • Allergic skin reaction: Rash or itching may signal sensitivity to an ingredient. Stop using the medicine and get emergency medical help for blistering, facial swelling or breathing difficulty.
  • Serious overdose reaction: Excess paracetamol can initially cause few symptoms while serious liver injury develops. Get urgent help after taking too much, even if you feel well.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Paracetamol may be used during pregnancy when clinically needed, but tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy and use Pyresia tablet only as advised.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Paracetamol passes into breast milk in small amounts and is generally compatible with breastfeeding when used as advised. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding.

Driving

Driving

Pyresia tablet is not usually expected to affect driving, but do not drive if you feel dizzy or unwell.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol because it can increase the risk of serious paracetamol-related harm, particularly when the total amount of paracetamol is too high.

Directions for Use

Take this medicine as a whole with sufficient water. Use Pyresia tablet exactly as directed by your healthcare professional. Check other pain, cold or flu medicines for paracetamol before using them.

Storage and disposal

Store Pyresia tablet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children. Dispose of expired tablets through an approved medicine-return service.

Quick Tips

  • Check cold, flu and pain products for paracetamol before using them with Pyresia tablet.
  • Do not exceed the amount advised by your healthcare professional.
  • Avoid alcohol while using paracetamol.
  • Seek medical advice if pain or fever persists or returns repeatedly.
  • Keep Pyresia tablet away from children.

Dosage

Overdose

If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

This medicine contains paracetamol, which reduces the production of chemical messengers involved in pain and fever, mainly in the brain. This lowers the feeling of pain and helps the body return toward a normal temperature.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Pyresia tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, other paracetamol-containing products can raise the total amount and overdose risk; warfarin may have a stronger blood-thinning effect with prolonged use; and rifampicin, phenytoin or carbamazepine may increase the risk of liver injury.

Interactions with food items

No specific food interaction is established. Avoid alcohol because it may increase the risk of serious paracetamol-related harm.
