Description
Polmakem capsule is a medicine that works as a pain reliever and reduces inflammation. It contains polmacoxib as the main active ingredient. It targets two specific processes in the body: it tries to lower pain and inflammation by blocking the enzyme COX-2, and it also affects carbonic anhydrase (CA). By addressing both areas, it aims to minimise heart-related side effects while also being beneficial in reducing arthritis pain.

Uses
- Polmakem capsule is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis affecting the knee and hip joints.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to polmacoxib, ibuprofen, aspirin, any other medicines of the NSAID group or any other ingredients of Polmakem capsule.
- If you have experienced bleeding from the stomach, have stomach ulcers or bleeding from the stomach or gut.
- If you have an increased bleeding tendency.
- If you suffer from severe heart, kidney or liver failure.
- If you are pregnant (last 3 months).

Pregnancy

Can I take Polmakem capsule during pregnancy?

Use of Polmakem capsule is not recommended during the last three months of pregnancy and also in the early months of pregnancy, as it may cause harm to the unborn baby. Take Polmakem capsule only when it is clearly prescribed by your doctor.
Breast Feeding

Can I take Polmakem capsule while breastfeeding?
A:
There is limited information about the presence of Polmakem capsule in breast milk. Polmakem capsule should be taken only if it is prescribed by your doctor.
Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Polmakem capsule?
A:
Polmakem capsule may sometimes cause drowsiness or sleepiness. Do not drive if you experience these side effects.
Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Polmakem capsule?

You should not consume alcohol if you are taking Polmakem capsule as it will increase the risk of stomach discomfort, ulcers and bleeding.
Other General Warnings

- You have stomach-related problems like bleeding from the stomach and ulcers (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease) or bleeding disorders.
- You have a history of allergic problems, asthma, etc.
- You have heart-related problems and diabetes.
- You have a serious disease of the kidney or liver.
- You suffer from autoimmune disorders like systemic lupus erythematosus (risk of aseptic meningitis) and mixed connective tissue disorders.
- You are pregnant or are planning to get pregnant.
- Use Polmakem capsule with caution in the case of children and the elderly.
Directions for Use
- Take Polmakem capsule as directed by your doctor.
- It is taken orally, with or without food, as a whole, with sufficient amount of water.
Storage and disposal
- Store Polmakem capsule below 25°C, in a cool and dry place.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Dosage
Overdose
If you have taken too much of Polmakem capsule, then contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately, as an overdose may result in nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, blurred vision and dizziness....
Missed a Dose
If you have missed taking any dose of Polmakem capsule, then take it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule.

How Does It Work?
NSAIDs help with osteoarthritis pain and stiffness, but their side effects limit long-term use. Older NSAIDs (COX-1 blockers) can harm your stomach. Newer ones (COX-2 blockers) increase the risk of heart problems.A relatively safer alternative is Polmacoxib, a new oral NSAID. Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Interaction with ketoconazole or erythromycin: When using Polmakem capsule together with ketoconazole or erythromycin, it might be necessary to use a lower dose than usual.
- Interaction with ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers: Polmakem capsule can lessen the effect of ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers, which are used to lower blood pressure....
- Interaction with diuretics: Some patients may find that Polmakem capsule reduces the effectiveness of furosemide and thiazide diuretics, which help remove extra fluid from the body by affecting kidney function....
- Interaction with aspirin: Using Polmakem capsule along with aspirin may lead to more stomach problems, like ulcers, compared to when Polmakem capsule is used alone.
