Pegtoline O Syrup 60ml Description
Pegtoline O Syrup is a combination of two antibiotics, namely metronidazole and ofloxacin. It is used to treat lung, urinary tract, stomach, and genital tract infections. Metronidazole stops bacteria
l growth by damaging the bacterial DNA. Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, resulting in bacterial cell death. This medicine is only available for children on a doctor's prescription and should be taken at a dose and for a duration prescribed by the doctor. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if your child is allergic to any ingredients or if they have other health problems. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dry mouth, dizziness, headache, loose stools, metallic taste, vision problems, rash, or stomach discomfort. If these effects persist or worsen, or if your child experience other side effects, seek medical help immediately.

Interactions of Pegtoline O Syrup 60ml
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of magnesium/aluminium antacids or sucralfate or iron preparations reduces absorption of ofloxacin
- Pegtoline O Syrup increases the effect of warfarin and other blood thinning medicines
- Concomitant use of alcohol causes stomach cramps, flushing, headache, nausea, and vomiting
- Concomitant use of disulfiram causes confusional state
- Concomitant use of phenytoin or phenobarbital increases metabolism of metronidazole, thereby, reducing the effectiveness
- Concomitant use of lithium increases lithium toxicity
- Concomitant use of fluorouracil increases fluorouracil toxicity
- Ofloxacin increases blood levels of theophylline
- Concomitant use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents causes excitation of the central nervous system
