Uses
- Patinex Ls tablets are used to treat the symptoms of:
- Depression
- Anxiety disorder
- Panic disorder
- Social anxiety disorder
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to Paroxetine, Clonazepam or have a history of hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines or known allergies to any components in this medication
- If you have abnormal heart rhythms
- If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma
- If you have decreased lung function
- If you have been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- If you are susceptible to breathing fluid into the lungs (aspiration)
- If you have been diagnosed with kidney disease with a likely reduction in kidney function
- If you have an alcohol-dependence disorder
- If you have a history of substance abuse
- If you have been diagnosed with liver failure
- If you have low sodium levels; this medication can cause a decrease in sodium levels (hyponatremia) and must be used with caution in older adults
- If you have a history of seizures; this medication can decrease the seizure threshold in epileptic persons
Side effects
- Most of these side effects are self-limiting and go away once the body adjusts to the medicine. However, if any of these symptoms persist or worsen with time, consult a doctor immediately.

- You are on treatment with other antidepressant medication.
- You have a history of medicine or alcohol abuse. Patinex Ls tablets cause dependency if used for the long term. It is important to monitor the dosage and not use it for long.
- You have diabetes. Patinex Ls tablets can alter blood sugar levels.
- You had seizures for the first time after starting the treatment with Patinex Ls tablets.
- You take any Ayurvedic or herbal supplements like St John's Wort to treat depression.
- You have planned surgery or a dental procedure.
- You have suicidal or self-harming thoughts.
- You want to stop using Patinex Ls tablets. Suddenly stopping this medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms like tremors, sweating, nausea, muscle pain, etc.
Directions for Use
- Take Patinex Ls tablets exactly as advised by your doctor.
- Take the tablets at the same time every day, so a stable level of the medication is maintained in the body.
- Take Patinex Ls tablets as a whole with a glass of water.
- Do not break or chew this tablet.
- Take this medicine with or without food; it can be taken after a meal in case of stomach issues.
- This medication may require 3-4 weeks for onset of action and 4-6 weeks its full benefits. Do not increase the dose without the advice of your treating physician.
- Do not abruptly stop taking Patinex Ls tablets; this can result in adverse effects from withdrawal.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- The following medicines are known to interact with Patinex Ls tablets.
- Opiates or narcotic pain relievers (such as codeine, fentanyl, tramadol, etc.) increase the sedative effects of Patinex Ls tablets.
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) like phenelzine and selegiline increase the risk of Serotonin Syndrome. This is a serious medical condition characterised by restlessness or agitation, confusion, insomnia, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, and loss of muscle coordination.
- Allergy medicines like cetirizine, muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine, and cold or cough medicine like chlorpheniramine increase the sedative effects of Patinex Ls tablets.
- Blood thinners and antiplatelet agents like warfarin and aspirin increase the risk of bleeding when taken with Patinex Ls tablets.
- Medicine that inhibits the metabolism of Patinex Ls tablets like erythromycin and cimetidine increases the blood levels of this medicine.
- Taking Patinex Ls tablets with antibiotics like linezolid increase the risk of Serotonin Syndrome.
- Blood concentration levels of beta-blockers like metoprolol, propranolol, and carvedilol increase when taken with Patinex Ls tablets.
Interactions with food items
- Do not consume coffee or tea for at least half an hour before or after taking this tablet. Tea and coffee minimise the calming effects of Patinex Ls tablets.
- Avoid drinking grapefruit juice as it decreases the metabolism of Patinex Ls tablets and increases the blood levels of this medicine.
