Medical Description

Palozest Injection is a prescription medicine prescribed by doctors to help prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy medications in cancer patients. It contains palonosetron, a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. In the body, it blocks serotonin from activating nerve receptors that trigger the vomiting reflex. This helps prevent nausea and vomiting that usually occurs during chemotherapy. Palozest Injection is administered by your doctor or healthcare team in a hospital setting. It is given as an intravenous infusion. Your doctor will decide the exact dose and duration of your treatment with Palozest Injection. Common side effects during treatment with Palozest Injection include headache and constipation. Other side effects include diarrhoea, dizziness, fatigue, and a slow heartbeat. Serious side effects include serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening reaction that can affect the brain, muscles, and digestive system, as well as serious allergic reactions and changes in heart rhythm. Before starting treatment with Palozest Injection, tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you take, especially those used to treat depression or migraines, as combining them with Palozest Injection may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Also tell your doctor if you have any heart problems, low potassium or magnesium levels, or a history of constipation or bowel blockage. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before receiving this medicine. Contact your healthcare team immediately if you notice symptoms such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue; difficulty breathing; rash; fast or unusual heartbeat; confusion; agitation; muscle stiffness; or seizures.
