Description
Montel LC tablet is used for relieving the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), such as runny & stuffed nose, blockage in airways, sneezing, itching, watery eyes and swelling. Montel LC tablet is a combination of two medicines with anti-allergic actions. It contains Montelukast and Levocetirizine as its active ingredients. Montel LC works by blocking the production of certain natural chemicals in the body responsible for producing symptoms of allergy. It is advised to take this medicine, preferably at bedtime, as it may cause dizziness.

Uses
For the management of symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic Levocetirizine, Cetirizine or Montelukast or any other ingredient of Montel LC.
- If you have kidney problems, undergoing dialysis or kidney failure.
- You should not give this medicine to your child with existing kidney-related problems.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Montel LC tablet while breastfeeding?
A:
It is not safe to use this medicine during breastfeeding as Levocetirizine passes into human milk and can harm the baby. It can cause drowsiness in the breastfed baby.
Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Montel LC tablet?
A:
Montel LC tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Be cautious while driving or operating any machinery after taking this medicine.
Alcohol
Q:
Can I consume alcohol with Montel LC tablet?
A:
It is advised to avoid alcohol consumption during the treatment, as it might alter your alertness. Do not drink alcohol if you are taking any medicines for sleeplessness, as the side effects may worsen.
Other General Warnings
Talk to your doctor if
- You are taking medicines containing steroids such as Prednisone and Prednisolone.
- You are taking painkillers like aspirin as it can increase the risk of asthma.
- You experience a rash or breathing difficulty after taking this medicine.
- You are suffering from psychiatric illness and often experience abnormal behaviours.
- You are suffering from a genetic disorder called phenylketonuria.
- You are not able to empty the bladder or have difficulty in urination.
- This medicine is not meant for relief from acute asthma. Use your inhaler for asthma relief in an acute attack.

Take Montel LC tablet as a whole with water as directed by your physician.
You should always complete the course of anti-allergic medicine for effective treatment.

- Store this medicine below 30°C.
- Try to protect it from light and moisture.
- Keep it away from the reach of children.

Dosage
Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose of Montel LC include drowsiness, aggression, restlessness, thirst and headache.
In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one....
Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Montel LC works by the combined action of its two ingredients, Montelukast and Levocetirizine.
- Montelukast blocks certain natural substances called Leukotrienes which may cause allergies. It reduces swelling, relaxes airways and helps to make breathing easier.
- Levocetirizine blocks Histamine, a natural substance, which is produced by the body during allergic reactions.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Montel LC tablet is a combination of two medicines. Any interaction which is seen with any of these two components when taken alone may occur with this combination.
- Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines used to treat fits or epilepsy like Phenytoin, medicines for brain-related disorders such as Phenobarbital, Anti-TB medicine such as Rifampicin. Any other medicines, supplements or herbals if you are taking or might take should be informed to your doctor to avoid any possible interaction....
