  • Disulphiram produces psychosis symptoms when used with metronidazole.
  • Blood-thinning effects of medications like warfarin increase due to metronidazole
  • Medicines containing lithium result in kidney damage when used along with metronidazole medicine
  • Metronidazole gets eliminated from the body at a rapid rate when taken along with anti-epileptic medication (phenytoin)
  • Metronidazole increases the toxic effects caused by high levels of carbamazepine
  • Metronidazole causes toxicity and increases the levels of anti-cancer medicines like fluorouracil and busulfan in the blood.
  • Immunosuppressant medicines like ciclosporin levels increase in the blood when taken along with metronidazole.

  • Metronidazole causes liver failure and may lead to death in patients with Cockayne syndrome.
