Methimez Tablet contains methimazole as an active ingredient. It is used in the treatment of overproduction of hormones by the thyroid gland and this condition is known as hyperthyroidism. This medic
ine works by inhibiting the synthesis of thyroid hormone and helps to treat hyperthyroidism. Nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, skin rashes are some side effects of this medicine, these are temporary and disappear on their own. If side effects persist or there is no improvement in your condition, then inform your doctor.

Driving

This medicine does not affect your ability to drive or to use machinery. However, if you experience side effects like dizziness, then avoid driving or using machines.
Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Methimez Tablet?

There is no known interaction with alcohol along with this medicine. Consult your physician if you have a habit of regular drinking.
Other General Warnings
Talk to your doctor if
- You are pregnant or planning to have a baby, as it can harm the foetus.
- You may develop a risk of blood disorders like anaemia, low level of white blood cells in the blood, etc. If the symptoms include fever, sore throat, then report to the doctor immediately.
- You experience a liver problem, symptoms may include weight loss, pain in the upper abdomen, urge to scratch, etc. The doctor will immediately ask for liver function tests.
- You may develop hypothyroidism (a condition in which the thyroid gland doesn't produce enough thyroid hormone), the doctor may suggest monitoring the TSH and T4 levels regularly during the treatment.

Methimez Tablet acts by stopping the synthesis of thyroid hormone from the thyroid gland. Hence, it helps in the treatment of hyperthyroidism.

Interactions of Methimez 10 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Methimez Tablet works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- If it is used along with blood thinner such as warfarin, then close monitoring of clotting time is required.
- Other medicines are Theophylline to treat a respiratory disorder, digitalis to treat heart conditions, the doctor may reduce the dose of it if used along with Methimez Tablet.
- Medicines used to treat high blood pressure like Propranolol, Sotalol should be used with caution during the treatment.

Overdose
- Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, headache, fever, joint pain, urge to scratch, and swelling.
- If you think you have taken too much of Methimez Tablet, then contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
- If you missed any dose of Methimez Tablet, then take it as soon as you remember.
- If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule.
- Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
