Medical Description
Meprate 10 tablet is a medicine containing a synthetic form of the female sex hormone progesterone, which is essential for maintaining a normal menstrual cycle. It is primarily prescribed for treating menstrual disorders such as irregular periods, absence of menstruation (amenorrhoea), and irregular bleeding. It may be used in the management of mild to moderate endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. The active ingredient, Medroxyprogesterone, works by replacing the naturally occurring progesterone in the body, helping to regularize menses and achieve hormonal balance.
Take this medicine exactly as your doctor directs. Swallow the tablet whole with water; it can be taken with or without food. Take it regularly at the same time each day and complete the full prescribed course. Stopping early or changing the dose without consulting your doctor is not advised. The duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor based on your specific condition and your response to the medication. Since Meprate is a hormonal medicine, it may take a few days to a few weeks to show its full therapeutic effect, although you may start feeling its action within about an hour of consumption.
There are certain situations when taking the Meprate tablet is not recommended. You should not use this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, as it can potentially cause abnormalities in the developing baby or pass into breast milk. It is also contraindicated if you have a history of breast cancer, certain blood-clotting disorders, or specific liver problems. Like all medicines, Meprate can have side effects, which may include weight gain, headache, nausea, abnormal bleeding, and fatigue. You should avoid consuming alcohol while on this medicine, as it can reduce bone density when taken with Meprate tablets.
Meprate is not a contraceptive and will not prevent pregnancy; therefore, you should use suitable birth control measures to avoid conception while on this medicine. Before starting Meprate, it is essential to inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, or herbal preparations you are taking, as well as any existing medical conditions you may have, such as kidney or heart disease, diabetes, asthma, or a history of blood clots.
Other medications that contain Medroxyprogesterone as an active ingredient include Deviry 10 tablet and Modus 10 tablet.
