Medical Description

Insart-CC tablet is a combination medicine used to treat high blood pressure when one medicine does not provide enough control. It contains telmisartan, cilnidipine and chlorthalidone. The telmisartan and cilnidipine components relax blood vessels, while chlorthalidone helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, lowering the pressure inside the vessels. Insart-CC tablet is taken by mouth as a whole tablet with sufficient water and with or after food, as prescribed; regular use helps control blood pressure even when you do not feel symptoms.

Dosage

An overdose may cause severe low blood pressure, fainting, dehydration, disturbed body salts or abnormal heartbeat. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

The telmisartan component blocks a body chemical that tightens blood vessels, allowing them to relax. Cilnidipine relaxes the muscle in blood vessel walls and improves blood flow. Chlorthalidone helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water through urine, reducing the amount of fluid moving through the blood vessels. Together, these actions lower blood pressure.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Insart-CC tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, mention potassium supplements and potassium-containing salt substitutes because telmisartan may raise potassium; other blood pressure medicines and water tablets because low blood pressure or dehydration may worsen; lithium because its level may rise; non-steroidal pain medicines because they may reduce the blood pressure effect or affect kidney function; and medicines for diabetes because chlorthalidone may alter blood sugar.
