Glimestar M2 tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medicine. It is a combination of glimepiride and metformin. It is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a condit

on in which your pancreas does not make enough insulin to control blood sugar levels and your body is also unable to efficiently use its insulin. This causes high blood sugar levels in your body, which can cause medical problems like heart disease, kidney disease, blindness and poor blood flow in your hands and legs. Glimestar M2 tablet lowers the raised blood sugar levels. You should take this medicine in the exact dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own. You must exercise regularly and have a balanced diet while taking this medicine for adequate control of your blood sugar levels.

Contraindications of Glimestar M 2mg Strip Of 10 Tablets

  • If you are allergic to metformin, glimepiride, or any of the ingredients of Glimestar M2 tablet.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have kidney or liver failure.
  • If you have metabolic acidosis (too much acid in the body fluids) like lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, or diabetic pre-coma.
  • If you have dehydration, severe infections, shock, or you have taken injections containing iodine.
  • If you had heart or lung failure, or a recent incidence of heart attack or shock.
  • If you are an alcoholic.

How Does It Work?

  • Glimestar M2 tablet contains a combination of glimepiride and metformin as active substances.
  • Glimepiride lowers the blood sugar level by increasing the release of insulin hormone from the pancreas. Insulin moves sugar (glucose) from the blood into the cells.
  • Metformin decreases the absorption of sugar in the intestine and the production of sugar by the liver.
  • Both of these components are known to increase the insulin sensitivity of the body (allows the cells of the body to use blood sugar more effectively, thereby reducing blood sugar).
