Epoetin alfa acts like the body's natural erythropoietin. It signals the bone marrow to make more red blood cells, which can reduce the need for transfusion in selected patients.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way epoetin alfa works or increase the risk of blood clots. Tell your doctor about all medicines you use. In particular, mention medicines for high blood pressure, blood thinners, chemotherapy, dialysis, or other treatments that stimulate red blood cell production.

Interactions with food items

No specific food interaction is established for epoetin alfa. Follow your doctor's advice about iron and other nutritional support.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
