It contains aceclofenac, an anti-inflammatory pain medicine, and drotaverine, a medicine that relaxes cramped smooth muscles. Aceclofenac reduces the body chemicals that promote pain and swelling, while drotaverine eases spasms in the abdomen, urinary tract, uterus and bile passages. The tablet is taken by mouth, usually with or after food, and should be used only as prescribed.

  • Inflammatory abdominal pain: Aceclofenac reduces pain and inflammation that may contribute to abdominal discomfort and tenderness.

  • Colicky pain: Relaxing spasms may help reduce gripping, wave-like pain in the abdomen or urinary and biliary tract when prescribed.

How does this medicine work?

Dotafac A tablet contains aceclofenac and drotaverine. Aceclofenac reduces the formation of chemical messengers that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation. Drotaverine relaxes smooth muscles in areas such as the intestine, uterus, urinary tract, and bile passages, reducing painful spasms. Together, the ingredients address both inflammation-related pain and muscle cramping.

Interactions

Some medicines can affect the way Dotafac A tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, other anti-inflammatory pain medicines, aspirin, blood thinners and steroid medicines can increase the risk of stomach bleeding; medicines for high blood pressure and water tablets may work less well or increase kidney stress; lithium or methotrexate may reach harmful levels; and medicines that affect kidney function can further increase kidney risk.
