• If you are allergic to Miglitol or any other ingredients of Diamig tablet.
• If you have a serious diabetes complication called diabetic ketoacidosis.
• If you have certain bowel conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers in the colon, or a partial blockage in the intestines, you may need to consider these factors.
• If you are at risk of developing a blockage in the intestines.
• If you have long-term bowel problems that cause poor digestion or absorption of food, or conditions that could get worse with extra gas in the intestines.

• Gas and bloating

Other General Warnings

• You are taking Diamig tablet and have kidney problems, as it may not be safe for people with significant kidney disease.
• You experience signs of low blood sugar (such as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion), especially if you are also taking insulin or sulfonylurea medicines.
• You are unsure how to treat low blood sugar, as table sugar (sucrose) will not work quickly when taking Diamig tablet. You should use glucose (dextrose) instead.
• You are planning surgery, have a fever, infection, or any major illness, as you may need changes in your diabetes treatment.
• You develop persistent or severe stomach problems like gas, diarrhoea, or abdominal discomfort.
• You are unable to follow your recommended diet or exercise plan, as this is essential for Diamig tablet to work effectively.

• Diamig tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
• Swallow it whole with a glass of water.
• It should be taken with or after a meal to reduce its side effects.
• It is best to take it at a fixed time for optimal results, and you should not consume it more than prescribed by your doctor.

• Store Diamig tablet in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

How Does It Work?

Interactions with other medicines

• Miglitol may slightly reduce the effectiveness of glyburide in some people, but this difference is usually small and not always significant.
• It may slightly decrease the absorption of metformin, but the change is not considered significant.
• It can lower the blood levels of digoxin in healthy volunteers, though this effect was not observed in diabetic patients already taking digoxin.
• It may significantly reduce the absorption of ranitidine (used for stomach acid) and propranolol (used for the heart and blood pressure), which could make these medicines less effective.
• It does not affect warfarin (blood thinner) or nifedipine (used for high blood pressure and angina).
• Medicines like charcoal or digestive enzyme products that break down carbohydrates (such as amylase or pancreatin) can lessen the benefits of miglitol and should be avoided at the same time.
• Antacids do not alter the way miglitol works in the body.
