Medical Description

Dexona injection is a steroid medicine. It is used to reduce severe inflammations in the joints, like in the case of rheumatoid arthritis and a severe case of asthma, and treat many conditions like skin allergies and eye conditions. It is also used in post-surgery care.

Dexona Injection contains dexamethasone as its active ingredient. This medicine acts by reducing the formation of inflammation-causing substances in the body. As it is a steroid, it also suppresses normal immune responses.

A doctor or nurse gives Dexona injections in a hospital or clinic. Do not self-inject. It must be taken exactly as directed. Please do not increase the dose or discontinue abruptly without consulting the prescriber, as it may worsen the disease condition.

Dexona might cause an upset stomach and thus may be taken with meals to reduce these side effects. Small frequent meals and frequent mouth care might help reduce it. Limit intake of caffeine. Doctors may recommend increased dietary vitamins, minerals, or iron.

This medicine might make it harder for the patient to fight off the infection. Thus, inform your doctor of any signs of infection, like a sore throat or unhealed injuries. Also, avoiding crowds and persons with contagious or infectious conditions would be best. Before starting this tablet, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.

Uses

  • Dexona injection is used to manage severe inflammation of joints and autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis.
  • It is given after surgery to avoid any sudden complications known as post-operative shock.
