This medicine acts by reducing the formation of inflammation-causing substances in the body. It is given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic. Do not self inject. Uses of Deksa 4 MG/ML
- Deksa Injection is used to manage severe inflammations of joints and autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis.
- It is given after surgery to avoid any sudden complications known as post-operative shock.
- It is used to treat various allergies associated with the skin (eczema, erythroderma) and lung disorders (asthma attack).
- It is also used in cancer therapy to reduce some specific symptoms and side effects to improve the quality of life.
Contraindications of Deksa 4 MG/ML
- If you are allergic to dexamethasone or any other ingredient of Deksa Injection.
- If you have a bacterial infection of the blood, fungal infections, infection at joints due to TB or Gonorrhoea.
- If you have any infection at the injection site.
- Deksa Injection should not be used for any infection spread throughout the body.
Side effects of Deksa 4 MG/ML
Side effects of Deksa Injection depend on the dose and duration of the treatment. You may experience a flare at the site of injection and other local reactions.

Pregnancy

Can I be given Deksa Injection during pregnancy?

Deksa Injection is not recommended during pregnancy as there is a risk of retarded growth and a reduction in adrenal hormones in the unborn child when used for prolonged periods. Hence, it is not advisable to take this injection. However, it can be prescribed by a doctor when the benefits of this medicine to pregnant women outweigh the risks to the unborn baby.
Breast Feeding

It is unknown if the dexamethasone passes into the breastmilk. Hence, the Deksa Injection should be avoided while breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor.

- You have blood cancer or diabetes.
- You are prone to an intestinal infection, amoebiasis characterised by diarrhoea.
- You experience visual disturbances or glaucoma.
- You have ulcers, bone and muscle-related disorder.
- This injection if taken for long term treatment, can interfere with the growth and hormonal imbalance.
- Deksa Injection should be used carefully in the elderly and premature babies.

It is a steroidal medication. Steroids are chemical substances produced in the human body and help to maintain normal body functions. Dexamethasone, the active constituent of Deksa Injection, acts by reducing the immune response in allergic reactions, severe inflammation and organ transplantation surgeries which results in pain, swelling and allergic-type reactions....
Directions for Use of Deksa 4 MG/ML
- Deksa Injection will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse. Do not self-inject this medicine.
- Follow any instructions suggested by the doctor or nurse during the procedure or for aftercare.
Interactions of Deksa 4 MG/ML
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Deksa Injection works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Medicines like Rifampicin (antibiotic), Phenytoin, and Carbamazepine (used for epilepsy and seizures), Ephedrine, and Primidone can reduce the effect of Deksa Injection.
- It can reduce the glucose-lowering effect of insulin and blood pressure-lowering effect of medicines used for high blood pressure and certain medicines used for heart failure such as Digoxin.
- The effect of coumarin, a blood thinner is reduced when used concomitantly with Deksa and there is a risk of bleeding. Continuous monitoring is recommended.
Storage and disposal of Deksa 4 MG/ML
- Store Deksa Injection in the original package to protect it from light.
- Do not store above 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
- The product should be used immediately after dilution.
- Keep it away from children and pets.
- Do not use Deksa Injection if you notice the contents are of a different coloured in any way or if particles are present.
Dosage of Deksa 4 MG/ML
Overdose
Deksa Injection will be given to you by a doctor or nurse, thus the chances of overdose are less because the treatment and the dose will be specific to the patient. However, in case of any discomfort after or during the treatment with this medicine, it should be informed immediately to the doctor....
