Breast Feeding

Driving

Driving

Low blood glucose can impair concentration and cause dizziness. Do not drive if you have symptoms of low blood glucose or feel unwell.

Alcohol

Avoid excess alcohol and ask your doctor whether any alcohol is safe, because it can affect blood glucose control.

Take the extended-release tablet with food or as advised by your doctor. Swallow it whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Follow the meal plan and blood glucose checks recommended by your healthcare team, and do not stop treatment without advice.

Storage and disposal

  • Take the extended-release tablet with food as advised.
  • Carry a quick source of sugar if your healthcare team recommends it.
  • Check your blood glucose as advised by your doctor.
  • Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Dosage

Overdose

Too much may cause low blood glucose, sweating, shaking, hunger, confusion, nausea, or weakness. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Sitagliptin helps the body maintain hormones that support insulin release after meals and reduce excess glucose production. Gliclazide stimulates the pancreas to release insulin. Together, these actions help lower blood glucose in people with type 2 diabetes.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way sitagliptin or gliclazide works and may cause blood glucose to become too low or too high. Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use. In particular, mention insulin, other medicines for diabetes, beta-blockers, corticosteroids, and medicines that affect kidney function.

Interactions with food items

Take this extended-release tablet with food if that is how your doctor prescribed it. Avoid excess alcohol, which can make blood glucose control less predictable and may increase the risk of low blood glucose.
