Cortel Trio Tablet

• If you are allergic to Amlodipine, Telmisartan, Hydrochlorothiazide or any other ingredients of Cortel Trio Tablet.
• If you have low blood pressure.
• If you have problems with your liver or kidney.
• If you suffer from any heart conditions like shock, irregular heartbeats, heart attack, low pulse or heart output, etc.
• If you have diabetes or some kidney issues and are taking medicines containing aliskiren to treat your high blood pressure.
• If you are pregnant for more than 3 months.
• If you have low potassium, low sodium, high calcium or high uric acid levels in your blood.

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Diarrhoea
• Weakness
• Tiredness
• Sleepiness
• Body pain

Other General Warnings

• You are following a low-salt diet.
• You are experiencing diarrhoea and vomiting.
• You have heart disease.
• You suffer from asthma or other allergies.
• You have issues with your kidneys or liver.
• You are living with diabetes.
• You recently had a heart attack.
• You have difficulties with your adrenal glands.
• You are afflicted by an autoimmune condition called lupus.
• Your doctor has informed you that you have elevated potassium levels in your blood.
• You experience severe diarrhoea that leads to weight loss or eye pain, or diminished vision.
• You are undergoing treatment involving high doses of water tablets (furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide).
• You have skin cancer or exhibit any skin reactions (skin rash, redness, sunburn) when exposed to sunlight.
• You are taking other medications to manage high blood pressure, such as Ramipril, Lisinopril, Aliskiren, etc.
• Cortel Trio Tablet is not recommended for patients under the age of 18 years.

• Take the tablet at the same time every day to keep your blood pressure under control.
• You can take it with or without food, but try to stick to a routine.
• Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly, even if you feel well.
• Limit your salt intake and eat a balanced, healthy diet.
• Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy body weight.
• Avoid alcohol and smoking, as they can reduce the benefit of the medicine.
• Drink enough water, but follow your doctor’s advice if you are on fluid restriction.
• Inform your doctor if you experience dizziness, extreme fatigue, or notice swelling in your ankles or feet.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
• Keep regular follow-up visits to monitor your blood pressure and kidney function.

Overdose

• Excess of Cortel Trio Tablet may lead to irregular heartbeats and low blood pressure.
• You may experience symptoms like dizziness, nausea, sleepiness, unconsciousness, dehydration, unclear vision.
• Seek urgent medical help if you experience any symptoms or feel you have taken too much of this medicine.

Missed a Dose

How Does It Work?

• Cortel Trio Tablet works by the combined action of all its active components - Amlodipine, Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide.
• Amlodipine and Telmisartan work by blocking a substance in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten, relaxing blood vessels and allowing the blood to flow easily.
• Hydrochlorothiazide works by helping the body get rid of extra fluid or water through urine, eventually lowering your blood pressure.

Interactions with other medicines

• Cortel Trio Tablet may interact with other medications and alter the treatment response. Please inform your doctor if you are receiving any other treatments, over-the-counter medications (purchased without a prescription), or herbal preparations. Additionally, notify your doctor if you have any scheduled surgery or vaccinations.
• The concomitant use of this medicine with lithium (used for psychiatric conditions) is not recommended. If its use is essential, your doctor may regularly monitor your blood lithium levels.
• You should refrain from taking medications such as aliskiren, captopril, and candesartan alongside this medicine, as this may heighten your risk of experiencing additional side effects.
• Simultaneous use of Cortel Trio Tablet with other antihypertensive medications (such as prazosin, hydrochlorothiazide, and indapamide) is not recommended, as this may amplify the blood pressure-lowering effects of this medicine.
• Medications like spironolactone and potassium supplements may elevate your blood potassium levels if taken concurrently and should therefore not be used simultaneously.
• The concomitant use of dantrolene (used to treat muscle stiffness and spasms) with this medicine should be avoided.
• Medicines such as baclofen, aspirin, ibuprofen, amifostine, phenobarbital, colesevelam, simvastatin, antacids (aluminium magnesium hydroxide), ketoconazole (used for fungal infections), rifampicin (antibiotic), ritonavir (used to treat HIV), verapamil (for heart conditions), tacrolimus (to boost the immune system), and ciclosporin (to suppress the immune system) should be used with caution alongside Cortel Trio Tablet.
