Medical Description

Anafortan injection is an anti-spasmodic medicine. It is used to relieve spasm, cramps and pain due to an obstruction or blockage in the urinary tract, bile duct, stomach and intestine. It is also used to relieve menstrual pain and cramps. It contains Camylofin as its active ingredient. Before taking this injection, inform your doctor about your detailed medical history, all the medicines, supplements you are currently taking or if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding.

Uses

For relieving spasms, cramps and pain due to an obstruction in the urinary tract, bile duct, stomach and intestine. It is also used in painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea) to relieve cramps and pain.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to Camylofin or any other ingredients of this injection.
  • If you have an eye condition (narrow-angle glaucoma).
  • If you have difficulty in passing urine or completely voiding the bladder.
  • If you experience fast heartbeats.
  • If you have bleeding issues in the gastrointestinal tract.
  • If you have an enlarged prostate.
  • If you have a rare hereditary disease of blood called porphyria.
  • If you have a megacolon, abnormal dilation of the large intestine.
  • If you have any condition known as mechanical stenoses.

  • You have a prostate problem (like Benign prostate enlargement).
  • You have a condition called pyloric stenosis (gastric outlet obstruction).

  • You are taking medicines like Amantadine (used in Parkinson's disease), Quinidine (used in heart disease) or Amitriptyline, Doxepin which are used to treat brain-related disorders.

Dosage

Overdose

Anafortan injection will be given to you by a doctor or nurse. Therefore, it is less likely to get an overdose of this medicine. If you experience any symptoms such as a dry mouth, difficulty in swallowing, talking or urinating, skin redness, fever, dilated pupil, extreme sensitivity to light, blurred vision, palpitation or rashes, right after taking this injection, seek medical help.

Missed a Dose

Your doctor or nurse will monitor you as to when the Anafortan injection should be given to you. It is unlikely that the dose will be missed. In case your doctor or nurse might have missed a dose, inform them.

How Does It Work?

Anafortan contains a muscle relaxant Camylofin which works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the stomach and intestines. It stops muscle spasms or contractions, thus reducing pain, cramps, discomfort, bloating, etc.

  • Certain medicines can affect the action of Anafortan injection or Anfortan itself can affect the way other medicines work. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you take or might take to avoid any possible interactions.
  • In particular, if you are taking antacids, medicines used to treat allergy, for heart conditions, used to relieve pain, used in Parkinson's disease & medicines used to treat a psychiatric illness should be used with caution along with the Anafortan injection.
