Ambrodil S Syrup

Effect

It is not safe to take Ambrodil S syrup with Propranolol, because Propranolol blocks the airway switches that the salbutamol in the syrup uses to open your breathing tubes. The airway-opening effect can be wiped out, leaving you wheezing with no relief from your usual treatment.

Effect

Selegiline blocks the enzyme that normally breaks down stimulant-type medicines, including the salbutamol in Ambrodil S syrup. Salbutamol then lingers longer and pushes harder on your heart and blood pressure than the dose intends.

Effect

Codeine switches off your cough reflex while the ambroxol in Ambrodil S syrup is thinning phlegm precisely so you can cough it out. The loosened phlegm is held in your chest instead of being cleared, which can drag a chest infection out for longer.

Atenolol is aimed mainly at the heart but still partly blocks the airway switches that the salbutamol in Ambrodil S syrup needs. Your airways open less than they should, and the blocking spreads further beyond the heart at higher Atenolol doses.

Effect

Theophylline and the salbutamol in Ambrodil S syrup both stimulate the heart and lower blood potassium in overlapping ways, so their effects stack up. Tremor, a racing pulse and muscle cramps become far more likely than with either medicine on its own.

The salbutamol in Ambrodil S syrup shifts potassium out of your blood into your cells, and Digoxin grips its target in the heart muscle harder when potassium is scarce. The same Digoxin dose can then start producing toxic effects on your heart rhythm.

Effect

Furosemide removes potassium through your kidneys while the salbutamol in Ambrodil S syrup moves it out of your blood into your cells, lowering your level by two separate routes. Potassium can fall enough to cause cramps, weakness and a disturbed heart rhythm.
