Mode of Action of Aculip H Tablets
How Does It Work?
Amitriptyline belongs to a class of medications called Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) that acts on multiple brain pathways to increase levels of certain neurotransmitters. It works by preventing the re-uptake of both serotonin as well as nor-adrenaline. It also has more sedating properties when compared to other TCAs.
The action of this medication typically begins within 2 to 4 weeks. Long term treatment with this antidepressant has shown to increase the levels of BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor). BDNF plays a vital role in brain development. Studies have shown that in Major Depressive Disorder, stress-related changes in BDNF levels occur. As continued use of this medication increases BDNF levels, it reduces the symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder.
Chlordiazepoxide belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines. It produces sedating and calming effects in users by acting on the brain to increase the inhibitory effects of a neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid).
The therapeutic benefits of Chlordiazepoxide in anxiety disorder come from the inhibition of activity in fear circuits in the part of the mind called the amygdala. It is common to see immediate relief from anxiety symptoms with first dosing, but several weeks with daily dosing are needed to see the maximal therapeutic benefit....
