Abirapro contains lactose and sodium, so it's important to inform your physician if you have lactose intolerance or are on a salt-restricted diet. Please also inform your doctor if you have any liver problems, high blood pressure, heart disorders, low blood potassium levels, diabetes, allergies, or any other health conditions. Additionally, make sure to let your physician know about all medications you are taking, including supplements and herbal remedies, before starting treatment with Abirapro.

A decrease in red blood cell count and reduced sex drive may also occur while taking Abirapro 250 mg tablets. This medication should not be used in conjunction with Ra-223, which is also used to treat prostate cancer.

Directions for Use

Abirapro 250 mg tablets should not be taken with food. You must take it exactly as your doctor has advised.

Storage and disposal

Dosage

Missed a Dose

If a daily dose is missed, treatment should be resumed the next day with the usual daily dose.

Overdose

Seek medical assistance in the event of an overdose.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Abiraterone acetate works by lowering the levels of male hormones (androgens), such as testosterone, which help prostate cancer cells grow. In the body, it converts to abiraterone, which blocks an enzyme called CYP17 necessary for producing androgens in the testes, adrenal glands, and prostate tumor. By inhibiting this enzyme, abiraterone decreases hormone production and slows cancer growth.
