Molecule Description

Sertaconazole belongs to antifungal class of medicine, which is used to treat the infection caused by fungus.

Uses

Treat conditions such as athlete’s foot in children and adults
Used to treat tinea pedis and other fungal infections caused by Tricophyton Rubrum, Tricophyton Mentagrophytes & Epidermophyton Floccosum

Contraindications

When should one not use Sertaconazole

Do not use Sertaconazole if you are allergic to it or other antifungals of the same group, such as Ketoconazole, Secnidazole or Fluconazole.

Contact dermatitis
Dry skin
Tenderness at the application site
Burning
Swelling
Erythema
Hyperpigmentation

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Sertaconazole works by inhibiting the Ergosterol which is an essential component for the fungal cell wall membrane synthesis which leads to fungal cell membrane injury through leakage of key constituents with fungal cell death.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

It reduces the effect of progesterone so avoid combination with progesterone.

No food interactions have been reported.

Dosage

Overdose

Overdose with Sertaconazole topical cream is unlikely. There are no symptoms of Sertaconazole overdose reported. If you suspect overdose with this medicine, immediately seek emergency medical attention.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any use, apply it as soon as you remember it. If it is time for your next application, skip it and continue with the following regular application.
