Molecule Description
Polymyxin B+Bacitracin+Neomycin is a topical medication used to treat minor bacterial skin infections. It is especially helpful for preventing infections in small cuts, burns, scratches, or wounds after surgery. This medicine helps keep the affected area clean and promotes healing by preventing the growth of harmful bacteria.
The medicine contains a combination of three antibiotics: neomycin, polymyxin B, and bacitracin. Each of these works in a different way to fight bacteria. Neomycin and polymyxin B kill the bacteria, while bacitracin prevents the bacteria from growing further.
Polymyxin B+Bacitracin+Neomycin is intended for external use only and should not be swallowed or applied internally. Before using it, gently clean the affected area with water and pat it dry. Then, apply a thin layer as directed by your doctor. It's important to wash your hands before and after applying it.
Be careful not to get it in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If it does happen, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Also, do not cover the area with a tight bandage unless your doctor tells you to, as this might cause irritation or slow healing.
This medicine should not be used for more than seven days unless your doctor advises you to continue. Using it for too long without supervision may lead to skin irritation or lead to antibiotic resistance. If your symptoms do not improve or become worse, contact your doctor immediately.
