Molecule Description
Miglitol medicine is a Glucosidase inhibitor used along with diet and exercise
to control high blood sugar in people with Type 2 diabetes in adults. High blood sugar can cause kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs and sexual function problems.

Contraindications of Miglitol
When should one not use Miglitol
- Diabetic ketoacidosis

Interactions with other medicines
- Charcoal products
- Digestive enzyme products (such as Amylase, Pancreatin)
- Pramlintide
- Beta-blocker (like Metoprolol, Propranolol, glaucoma eye drops such as Timolol)
Interactions with food items
- Excess sugar, packed food, oily food should avoid
- Intake of vegetables, fruits and proteins can have significant benefits for people with diabetes
Dosage of Miglitol
Overdose
Overdose does not result in hypoglycemia but it may result in transient increases in flatulence, diarrhea and abdominal discomfort.
Missed a Dose
Take medicine as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the regular dosing schedule. Do not take extra medicine.
