Molecule Description
Doxofylline is used for the treatment of bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways, widening it and thus making it easier to breathe. Doxofylline is available in the form of tablets, capsules, syrup, injection. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting doxofylline.

Contraindications
When should one not use Doxofylline
- If you are allergic to doxofylline or similar medicines
- If you are suffering from any heart problems like heart attack, low blood pressure, etc
- If you are a breastfeeding/lactating mother

- You are a cigarette smoker
- You have above 60 years of age.
- You must limit the consumption of food and beverages containing caffeine

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way doxofylline works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Especially if you are taking medicines to treat fits or are taking medicines like erythromycin, TAO, lincomycin, clindamycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, influenza vaccine and propranolol, phenytoin.
- Doxofylline should be used with caution along with ephedrine.
Dosage
Overdose
Seek urgent medical help in case of an overdose.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed any dose of doxofylline then take it as soon as you remember. If it is already time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
