Doxofylline

When should one not use Doxofylline

• If you are allergic to doxofylline or similar medicines
• If you are suffering from any heart problems like heart attack, low blood pressure, etc
• If you are a breastfeeding/lactating mother

Common side effects of this drug are:

• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Irritation
• Insomnia
• Injection site reactions

Other General Warnings

• You have problems with your heart, lungs, liver or kidneys
• You have an overactive thyroid gland
• You have a history of stomach ulcers
• You are taking medicines containing erythromycin, lincomycin, clindamycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, influenza vaccine and propranolol.
• You are a cigarette smoker
• You have above 60 years of age.
• You must limit the consumption of food and beverages containing caffeine

How Does It Work?

Interactions with other medicines

• Some medicines can affect the way doxofylline works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
• Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
• Especially if you are taking medicines to treat fits or are taking medicines like erythromycin, TAO, lincomycin, clindamycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, influenza vaccine and propranolol, phenytoin.
• Doxofylline should be used with caution along with ephedrine.
