Zipsydon 40 mg capsules are most commonly used to treat schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental illness characterized by disturbed thinking emotions and affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. Zipsydon 40 mg capsules belong to the antipsychotics class of medications. Zipsydon 40 mg capsules are also indicated for acute treatment of bipolar manic or mixed episodes (as monotherapy) and as an adjunct to lithium or valproate for the maintenance treatment of the bipolar disorder. It is also used for acute agitation in schizophrenic patients. Zipsydon 40 mg capsules are composed of 40 mg of Ziprasidone.
Zipsydon 40 mg capsules are a prescription medicine, and it is to be taken precisely as suggested by the physician. Do not take in more than prescribed. Consult your physician immediately if you experience worsening your condition or allergic side effects. It is essential to follow the complete course of treatment. Contraindications of Zipsydon 40 MG

- Acute recovery period after a myocardial infarction (heart attack)
- QT prolongation (heart complication)
- In combination with medicines that can cause QT Prolongation.

Pregnancy

Can I take Zipsydon 40 mg capsules during pregnancy?

Zipsydon 40 mg capsules are not recommended during pregnancy. It is a category C pregnancy risk medicine. Newborns exposed to antipsychotic drugs during the third trimester of pregnancy are at risk of withdrawal symptoms following delivery. There have been reports of agitation, hypertonia, hypotonia, tremor, somnolence, respiratory distress, and feeding disorder. However, consult your doctor before taking medicine or inform your doctor if you get pregnant while on treatment with Zipsydon 40 mg.
Breast Feeding

Can I take Zipsydon 40 mg capsules while breastfeeding?
A:
It may be unsafe to use Zipsydon 40 mg capsules while breastfeeding. Since, this medicine can be excreted into human breast milk. You must seek medical consultation to decide whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue the medicine.
Driving

Can I drive if I have taken Zipsydon 40 mg capsules?
A:
No. It’s not advisable to drive or operate any heavy machinery requiring high mental alertness if you take Zipsydon 40 mg capsules. It can cause side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, impairment in judgment, and blurred vision. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Can I consume alcohol with the Zipsydon 40 mg capsules?

Zipsydon 40 mg capsules exert its mechanism of action by acting on certain chemical neurotransmitters, dopamine, and serotonin in the brain that help regulate mood and depression. Dopamine is a chemical messenger found between the neurons of the brain. It regulates mood and muscle movements and plays a vital role in the brain's pleasure and reward system. By blocking the dopamine, Zipsydon 40 mg capsules restore the chemical imbalance in the brain. It further improves mood, thinking, and behavior. Interactions with other medicines
- To avoid undesirable side effects associated with drug interaction, inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are currently taking.
- Zipsydon 40 mg capsules can cause adverse reactions when taken with the following medicines:
- Interaction with medicines like chlorpromazine, haloperidol that cause QT prolongation should be avoided
- Interaction with antihypertensive agents like guanethidine, betanidine, reserpine, clonidine, and methyldopa can enhance the effect of these medicines and cause hypotension
- Interaction with levodopa and dopamine agonists can cause antagonizing effects on these medicines
- Interaction with centrally acting alpha agonists like methoxamine, oxymetazoline and phenylephrine should be used with caution because of its Central Nervous system effects
Storage and disposal of Zipsydon 40 MG
Store Zipsydon 40 mg capsules at room temperature below 30℃. Store it in an airtight container, away from the reach of children and pets. Keep the Zipsydon 40 mg capsules away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep your tablets in their original packaging until it is time to take them. Do not throw away the medicines with household waste. Dispose of the expired/unused medicine immediately as biomedical waste. Do not use it post the date of expiry stated on the label....
Dosage of Zipsydon 40 MG
Overdose
Do not take Zipsydon 40 mg capsules in more than prescribed doses. Symptoms of overdosage can be extrapyramidal symptoms, somnolence, tremor, and anxiety. In case of an overdose of Zipsydon 40 mg capsules, seek emergency medical treatment and contact your doctor immediately....
