Medical Description
Xylocaine spray is a local anaesthetic used to numb a small area before selected injections or procedures and to ease some minor local pain. It contains lidocaine, which blocks pain signals in nearby nerves, and ethanol as part of the formulation. The spray reduces sensation only where it is applied and can be used on skin or a mucosal area when a doctor directs it, without affecting awareness elsewhere. Xylocaine spray is for external application and should be used exactly as prescribed.
