Xone 1 G Description
Xone 1g Injection is an antibiotic containing Ceftriaxone, belonging to the Cephalosporin class of medicine. Xone Injection is used for severe bacterial infections of the brain, lungs, ear, stomach,
urinary tract, joints, skin and any other surgical procedures. Ceftriaxone in Xone Injection kills the infection-causing bacteria by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall. Xone injection will be given to you at a hospital under the medical supervision of a doctor and nurse. Do not self inject. Your doctor or nurse will give you this injection as a drip (intravenous infusion) or as an injection directly into a vein or a muscle after assessing the correct dose for you based on the severity of the infection. Sometimes you may experience diarrhoea, altered blood levels, pain at the injection site, headache, dizziness after taking this medicine. However, these side effects get resolve on their own, if it worsens inform your doctor immediately.

Uses of Xone 1 G
Contraindications of Xone 1 G
- If you are allergic to Ceftriaxone or any other ingredients of Xone 1g Injection.
- If you are allergic to a class of medicines known as cephalosporin.
- If you are allergic to medicines like penicillins, monobactams and carbapenems.
- If a newborn is suffering from jaundice or is on calcium injection treatment.
- If a newborn is suffering from increased bilirubin in the blood.
- Ceftriaxone solution containing lidocaine should not be given as an injection.
Side effects of Xone 1 G
- Increased number of eosinophils
- Diarrhoea, loose stools
- Increased liver enzymes
- Rash
- Fungal infections
- A decrease in white blood cells
- Decreased red blood cells (anaemia)
- A bleeding disorder like coagulopathy (a condition in which the ability of blood to form clots is decreased)
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Itching at the injection site
- Pain at the injection site
- Fever
- Increased creatinine levels in the blood
Precautions and Warnings of Xone 1 G
Pregnancy
- Xone 1g Injection can be used in pregnant women and during the first trimester only if necessary.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or planning a baby. Your doctor will give you this medicine after assessing the need and benefit.
Breast Feeding
- Xone 1g Injection passes in human milk in low amounts and has no effects on the breastfed baby.
- However, the baby should be monitored for side effects like diarrhoea or fungal infection of the mouth.
- Your doctor will decide if the medicine should be discontinued.

- You have liver diseases.
- You have kidney diseases or kidney stones.
- You are suffering from gallstones.
- You are suffering from anaemia (reduces red blood cells).
- You are suffering from bowel inflammation.
- You have stomach disease or problems like diarrhoea after taking antibiotics.
- You have taken any medicine containing calcium recently.
- You are planning to get a blood test, it may interfere with the results.
- Xone 1g Injection should not be given to premature babies.

Directions for Use of Xone 1 G
- Xone 1g Injection will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse as an injection.
- Do not self inject this medicine.
Interactions of Xone 1 G
Interactions with other medicines
- Calcium containing diluents like ringer lactate should not be used for reconstitution.
- Medicines known as oral anticoagulants (blood thinners) can increase the risk of bleeding.
- Medicines are known as aminoglycosides (antibiotics) increase the risk of kidney damage when given with this medicine.
- Medicine such as local anaesthetics is known to cause methemoglobinemia (abnormal amount of methemoglobin - a type of haemoglobin).
Storage and disposal of Xone 1 G
- Store Xone 1g Injection below 30°C. Protect it from light.
- Keep it out of the reach of children.
- Any unused portion should not be stored and should be discarded properly.
Dosage of Xone 1 G
Overdose
- Xone 1g Injection will be given by your doctor or nurse, therefore it is less likely you will receive more of this medicine.
- However, if you experience dizziness, fever, chills and stomach upset immediately after taking this injection, inform your doctor as soon as possible.
