Medical Description

Voltido rotacap is a combination medication that contains vilanterol and fluticasone as its active ingredients. Voltido rotacap helps to open the airways in the lungs, making breathing easier. It works by acting on specific receptors in the smooth muscles of the airways. Voltido rotacap is commonly used by adults with asthma. Voltido rotacap is also used to manage and treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy nose, and watery eyes. It aids in improving breathing, alleviating symptoms, and reducing the likelihood of asthma attacks. Voltido rotacap contains an inhaled corticosteroid. This type of medication is used in treating asthma as it helps reduce inflammation and sensitivity in the airways. Regular use can improve symptoms and lung function.

Voltido rotacap is for inhalation use only. It should be taken at the same time every day. If stored in a refrigerator, the inhaler must be allowed to return to room temperature for at least an hour before use. The step-by-step instructions on the label must be followed. After inhalation, patients should rinse their mouths with water without swallowing. Side effects of Voltido rotacap include headache, common cold (nasopharyngitis), abdominal pain, back pain, fever, and muscle spasms.

Overdose

If you take too much Voltido rotacap for a prolonged period, it can result in issues such as hypercorticism, which impacts your body's hormone levels. You may experience various uncomfortable symptoms due to excessive stimulation of your beta receptors. These can include seizures, chest pain (angina), fluctuations in blood pressure (either high or low), a rapid heartbeat (up to 200 beats per minute), heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias), feelings of anxiety, headaches, shaking, muscle cramps, dry mouth, sensations of your heart racing (palpitations), nausea, dizziness, fatigue, general malaise, difficulties sleeping, elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycaemia), low potassium levels (hypokalaemia), and metabolic acidosis. Severe reactions, including heart failure or even death, can occur if you overdose on this medication. If you accidentally take an overdose of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.

Missed a Dose

Do not take an extra dose of Voltido rotacap. If you have missed the previous dose, just take your next scheduled one.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Voltido rotacap helps the body by increasing a chemical that relaxes the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe. It also stops certain cells from releasing chemicals that cause allergic reactions, reducing symptoms like itching, redness, and swelling caused by inflammation.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Beta blockers may diminish or oppose the effects of Voltido rotacap. The concurrent use of both non-selective and selective beta blockers should be avoided.
  • Caution is advised when using diuretics, as alterations seen in an electrocardiogram (ECG) and hypokalemia associated with potassium-sparing diuretics may worsen if taken alongside Voltido rotacap.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
