Medical Description
Uses
- Vanlid Capsule is used to treat Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhoea (a type of bowel infection).
- It is also used to treat staphylococcal enterocolitis, including infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

- Inform your doctor if you have any kidney problems or hearing difficulties before starting this medicine.
- Tell your doctor if you have an inflammatory disease of the bowel, as more of the medicine may be absorbed into your body.
- Complete the full course of Vanlid Capsule as prescribed; do not stop it early even if you feel better, as this can make the infection harder to treat.
- This medicine is an antibiotic and will not work against infections caused by viruses, such as the common cold or flu.

Interactions with other medicines
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbal products you are currently taking or plan to take, to avoid any possible interaction.
- Especially inform your doctor if you are taking other medicines that can affect your kidneys or hearing, such as aminoglycoside antibiotics (for example, gentamicin or amikacin).
- Cholestyramine and colestipol can reduce the effect of this medicine, so they should not be taken at the same time.
