• If you have any allergic reaction to Metoprolol, Telmisartan or any of the ingredient of Telkonol M 50 tablet
• If you are suffering from heart problems like heart block, heart failure or sick sinus syndrome (abnormal heart rhythms)
• If you have a specific type of angina called Prinzmetal's angina
• If you have reduced blood supply to your limbs (peripheral arterial disease)
• If you have asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• If you are suffering from an adrenal gland tumour (phaeochromocytoma)
• If you have a condition called metabolic acidosis (increased acidity in your body or are on medicines to treat irregular heart rhythm like disopyramide)
• If you have diabetes associated with frequent low blood sugar levels
• If you are suffering from low blood pressure (hypotension)
• If you are in the second or third trimester of pregnancy
• If you have blockage of any duct that carries bile from the liver to gallbladder (obstructive biliary disorders) or severe liver disease
• If you have diabetes and you are on Aliskiren, do not take this medicine

• Always take it at the same time every day
• Never change the dose or stop this medicine on your own

• Store Telkonol M 50 tablet at or below 25°C
• Store it in original packing to protect it from light
• Try to keep out of the reach of children

• Take the Telkonol M 50 tablet at the same time every day, as directed by your doctor.
• Do not stop or change the dose of your medicine without consulting your doctor first.
• Limit your salt intake, especially by avoiding pickles and packaged foods.
• Avoid high-potassium foods such as spinach, broccoli, and bananas.
• Do not consume alcohol during your treatment, as it can increase side effects and lower blood pressure.
• Immediately inform your doctor if you experience dizziness, slow heart rate, or vision problems.
• Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or drowsiness after taking this medicine.
• If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is close to your next scheduled dose; then skip the missed one.
• This medicine should not be taken if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.

How Does It Work?

• Metoprolol works by slowing the heart rate and relaxing blood vessels and reduces high blood pressure.
• Angiotensin II is a substance produced in the body which causes the narrowing of blood vessels. It leads to an increase in blood pressure.
• Telmisartan prevents the binding of Angiotensin II to its receptors and causes the blood vessels to relax and lowers the blood pressure.

Interactions with other medicines

• Avoid heart rhythm medications like Amiodarone, Disopyramide, and Digoxin.
• Use caution with blood pressure medications such as Prazosin, Tamsulosin, Terazosin, Doxazosin, Clonidine, Guanfacine, Moxonidine, Methyldopa, Rilmenidine, and Nitroglycerine.
• Be careful with Lidocaine and general anesthetics.
• Interacts with diabetes medications, including Aliskiren.
• Do not combine with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics.
• Use caution with blood thinners like Warfarin, Heparin, and NSAIDs.
• Be cautious with psychiatric medications like Fluoxetine, Lithium, Paroxetine, Bupropion, Thioridazine, Diphenhydramine, Hydroxychloroquine, and Mefloquine.
• Avoid with MAOIs.
• May reduce the effectiveness of Ergotamine.
• Cimetidine can increase Metoprolol levels.
• Trimethoprim, Rifampicin, and Terbinafine can affect how Metoprolol works.
• Telmisartan can increase the levels of Cyclosporin and Tacrolimus.
• Diuretics can increase the risk of low blood pressure.
