Close your eyes gently for 2-3 minutes. For ear use, warm the eye/ear drop slightly to body temperature, place drops in the ear canal, and maintain the position for several minutes. Apply as directed by your doctor. Do not let the dropper touch your eye, ear, or skin.

Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time for the next scheduled application. Skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not apply extra doses.

How does this medicine work?

Gentamicin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome, leading to bacterial cell death. Dexamethasone suppresses inflammation through multiple pathways, including inhibition of immune cell activation and reduction of inflammatory mediator production, thereby decreasing pain and swelling.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Minimal systemic drug interactions occur when used topically as directed. However, space other eye or ear medications 5-10 minutes apart. Avoid concurrent topical corticosteroids without medical guidance. Always inform your doctor of other medications.

Interactions with food items

No food interactions occur with topical application.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Bacterial eye and ear infections usually require treatment for 5-7 days. Most show significant improvement within 24-48 hours, but completing the full course prevents recurrence.
If the label indicates eye/ear use, yes. However, use separate applicators or dropper tips for each location to prevent cross-contamination.
Mild burning immediately after instillation is normal and usually subsides within minutes. If burning persists beyond a few minutes, remove the eye/ear drop by rinsing with saline and consult your doctor.
No, do not use this eye/ear drop for longer than your doctor has advised. If your symptoms have not improved by the end of the prescribed period, see your doctor rather than continuing the medicine on your own.
