Medical Description

Sucol Injection contains suxamethonium chloride, a molecule that belongs to the muscle relaxant class of medicines. This injection relaxes the muscles by inhibiting nerve signals. When surgeons are performing surgeries, this impact is beneficial.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the sulcol injection Personal or family history of malignant hyperthermia or congenital myotonic diseases History of apnoea Liver or Kidney disorders Patients recovering from severe burns or trauma Spinal cord or peripheral nerve injury or acute major muscle wasting Pre-existing hyperkalaemia, neuropathy, open-eye injuries, or skeletal muscle myopathies

Breast Feeding

Talk to your doctor if

Directions for Use

  • You will never be required to administer this medication to yourself. It will always be administered by a qualified medical professional.
  • Your doctor will decide the dose you get. It will be determined by your age, weight, the degree of muscle relaxation you require, and your expected response to the medicine.

Storage and disposal

  • Keep this injection out of children's sight and reach
  • On the label and the carton, the expiration date is printed. The month is indicated by the first two digits, while the year of expiration is shown by the remaining digits. After the expiration date on the carton and label, do not use this medicine. The expiration date refers to the month's last day.
  • Store at a temperature between 2° and 8°C
  • Do not allow the injection to freeze
  • Any unused liquid should be dumped once it has been opened
  • Do not mix with any other medicines

Dosage

Overdose

Suxamethonium Chloride shall always be administered under strict supervision. In the event of an overdose, the muscle will relax for longer than is necessary. However, if you believe you have been given too much, tell your doctor or nurse right away.

Missed a Dose

Sucol injection is used during surgery. There are no missed doses.

How Does It Work?

Sucol Injection temporarily paralyse muscles by blocking the connection between neurons and muscles. This relaxes the muscles.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Suxamethonium's neuromuscular blocking effects are prolonged by aminoglycosides, clindamycin, polymyxins, vancomycin, quinine, chloroquine, promazine, promethazine, chlorpromazine, phenelzine, lithium carbonate, and piperacillin
  • Propofol makes myocardial depression and bradycardia more likely with co-administered with Sucol injection.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Suxamethonium can cause cardiac arrest and dysrhythmias. Ventricular dysrhythmias are uncommon in the absence of hyperkalaemia, while individuals taking cardiac glycosides are at higher risk. Suxamethonium's effect on the heart can result in alterations in cardiac rhythm, including cardiac arrest.

There have been no investigations on the effects of suxamethonium on female fertility or pregnancy.

Suxamethonium Chloride is a sterile solution that is clear and colourless.
