Medical Description
Revidox-LB capsule is an antibiotic. It contains two active substances - doxycycline and spores of Lactobacillus sporogenes. Doxycycline is an antibiotic that kills the bacteria responsible for the infection. Lactobacillus sporogenes is a probiotic, a beneficial bacterium that is already present in the intestine of the body. It helps in maintaining the normal bacterial flora of the gut. Revidox-LB capsule is used to treat bacterial infections within the abdomen and antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. This medicine It can be used by adults and should be used with precautions in children over 8-years of age.

- Revidox-LB capsule is used to treat bacterial infections within the abdomen.
- It is also used to treat diarrhoea associated with antibiotics.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to doxycycline, Lactobacillus, or any other ingredient of Revidox-LB capsule.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

- You experience severe allergic reactions after taking this medicine.
- You have benign intracranial hypertension, a brain disorder characterized by a severe headache.
- You have an infection or inflammation in the food pipe (oesophagitis).
- You experience severe diarrhoea after using this medicine.
- You have porphyria, a blood disorder characterized by severe abdominal pain.
- You have a condition called systemic lupus erythematosus, characterized by weakness and joint pain.
- You experience a Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction, characterized by fever, chill, increased heartbeat, and headache.
Directions for Use
- Take Revidox-LB capsule as a whole with a glass of water.
- It can be taken with food or after your meals.
- Do not cut, break, or chew the medicine.
- It would be best if you take the medicine at a fixed time for optimal results.
- Do not consume more than the dose prescribed by your doctor.

How Does It Work?
- Revidox-LB capsule contains doxycycline and Lactobacillus sporogenes as active substances.
- Doxycycline is an antibiotic. It stops the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins.
- Lactobacillus sporogenes are beneficial bacteria that are already present in the intestine. It supports the natural bacterial flora of the intestine and helps in digestion and absorption. Use/overuse of antibiotics kills these good bacteria in the intestine. Lactobacillus sporogenes help in restoring the bacteria in the intestine.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicine may affect the way Revidox-LB capsule works, or this medicine can itself reduce the effectiveness of other medicine.
- Inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or herbal preparations you are taking to avoid any possible interactions.
- Concomitant use of Revidox-LB capsule with antacids containing aluminum, calcium, or magnesium can decrease the effect of this medicine.
- The antibiotic effect of penicillin is altered by the use of Revidox-LB capsule.
- Blood thinners like warfarin when used with this medicine can increase the risk of bleeding.
- Medicines used for treating fits/seizures such as phenytoin/carbamazepine if used along with Revidox-LB capsule can reduce the anti-infective action.
- The effect of oral contraceptives may be altered by the use of this medicine. An alternative contraceptive measure should be used.
- Medicines like cyclosporine used to reduce the immune response should be avoided as they can interfere with the effect of this medicine.
- The use of methoxyflurane, an anaesthetic with this medicine, can result in severe toxicity in the kidney.
- Using medicines like isotretinoin along with Revidox-LB capsule should be avoided as there is a risk of getting side effects.
