Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Relax F tablet contains two active ingredients: fluoxetine and alprazolam. Fluoxetine is an antidepressant medication. Fluoxetine improves the activity and levels of serotonin in the brain by blocking its reuptake by nerve cells. Serotonin is a natural neurotransmitter in the brain. It is responsible for calming mood, causing good feelings, and improving behaviour. It can also help in improving sleeping, eating, and digestion. Alprazolam is a tranquillisers and benzodiazepines (depressants). It binds to specific receptors in the brain, increasing the activity of GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid), a chemical messenger (neurotransmitter) in the brain. Increasing the effects of GABA causes lower of the brain's excessive and abnormal electrical activity of the neurons. This results in a calming mood. However, alprazolam does not cause any changes to GABA levels in the body.
