Placida Strip Of 10 Tablets
Placida Strip Of 10 Tablets Description
Placida is a medication that contains a combination of two drugs, Flupentixol (0.5mg) and Melitracen (10mg), primarily used in the treatment of depression. Flupentixol belongs to a group of drugs cal
led antipsychotics, whereas Melitracen is a tricyclic antidepressant. This combination at this particular dosage is used in the management of mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Flupentixol is a first-generation antipsychotics. This drug works by blocking dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain. At low doses (0.5- 3mg), this drug shows anti-depressant effects. It has also shown to decrease thoughts of self-harm in users who have such tendencies in depression. Melitracen is a tricyclic antidepressant that acts on multiple brain pathways to increase levels of certain neurotransmitters, effectively decreasing the user’s symptoms. It acts by preventing the re-uptake of both serotonin as well as nor-adrenaline. It has both anti-depressant and anti-anxiety properties. Placida should be taken as per the physician's recommendation only. It is best to take the tablet at the same time every day as this ensures the best action of the medication, decreasing the chances of relapse of symptoms significantly. It is also recommended to complete the entire course of the medication as prescribed.
