Ona 0.25 MG Description
Ona tablet treats people suffering from mental health conditions. It is mainly used to treat people suffering from epilepsy(seizures), a neurological disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal
. It is also used in treating panic disorders like unexpected extreme fear and tension due to stress. It is also used for a wide range of conditions like panic attacks, anxiety by lightning and relieving the mood. It helps to decrease the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells and calms the brain. It contains Clonazepam as an active ingredient. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine (BZD) is an active ingredient that works by blocking or inhibiting certain brain signals and decreases the activity in your nervous system by increasing the action of certain chemical messengers like Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which blocks the excessive and abnormal activity of nerve cells and thus helps in calming the brain. The duration of this medicine as well as the dose, varies among individuals depending on the condition and severity it is being used for. You should not take more doses than prescribed by your doctor. This medicine is not meant for children. Using this medicine without proper prescription by a doctor can cause serious health issues.

Uses of Ona 0.25 MG
- Seizure disorders like epilepsy and panic disorders.
- Acute mania.
- Panic disorder (Panic attacks are sudden, unreasonable feelings of fear and anxiety that cause physical symptoms like a fast heartbeat and sweating).
- Monotherapy (treating a disease with a single medicine) or adjunctive therapy (treatment with multiple medicines).
- Restless leg syndrome.
- Insomnia.
- Tardive dyskinesia.
- REM (Rapid eye movement).
- Sleep behaviour disorder bruxism (teeth grinding).
Contraindications of Ona 0.25 MG
- If you are allergic to Clonazepam or any other ingredients of the tablet Ona Tablet.
- If you are already taking a tablet for a previous history of seizures with the same mechanism of action but different medicines.
- If you are taking medication for any skin infections, such as ketoconazole and itraconazole as it may cause hypersensitivity reactions (avoid using the tablet for at least 14 days).
- If you have diabetes, bleeding tendencies, bradycardia ( slow heartbeat), recent, decompensated heart failure, electrolyte disturbances (e.g. hypokalemia), and metabolic disease.
- If you have undergone recent heart surgeries.
- If you have renal or liver problems.
- If you have acute closed-angle glaucoma.

Mode of Action of Ona 0.25 MG
How Does It Work?
The active ingredient in the Ona Tablet is Clonazepam which works by increasing the action of Gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA), a chemical messenger responsible for inhibiting the action of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system. There are three types of Gamma amino-butyric acid receptors; A, B, and C. However, benzodiazepines act only on GABA-A receptors. The GABA-A receptor is an ionotropic receptor (The effect of a transmitter substance or hormone that activates or deactivates ionotropic receptors eg. serotonin receptors) that increases chloride ion conductance into the cell in the presence of GABA. The intracellular concentration of chloride is lower than that of extracellular concentration. Consequently, the influx of negatively charged chloride ions hyperpolarises the cell, inhibiting the creation of an action potential and thus suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain. It also blocks the action of certain chemical messengers which act on the heart and blood vessels....
Directions for Use of Ona 0.25 MG
- Take the Ona Tablet as a whole with a glass of water or as directed by your doctor.
- Swallow it as a whole.
- Do not crush, chew or break it.
- It can be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- The dosage and duration depends on the disease of the individual, the patient’s age and medical history. Ona Tablets can cause dependency and thus should be taken with proper prescriptions.

Interactions with other medicines
- Do not take this tablet if you are already taking another medication such as linezolid, i.e. Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors( MAO), as it may enhance the effect of the tablet and can cause severe complications. ...
- Increased risk of bleeding tendencies with anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), antiplatelet agents (e.g. ticlopidine, aspirin, dipyridamole), antipsychotics, and NSAIDs.
- Increased risk of seizures with other antidepressants (e.g. other Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors).
- Enhanced hypoglycemic effect of antidiabetic agents, so if you are a diabetic, you should consult the doctor before taking medicine.

Overdose
Overdose of Ona Tablets can be fatal. If you happen to take excessive Ona Tablets, reach out to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. Establish and maintain airways to ensure adequate oxygenation and respiratory function. Monitor cardiac function and vital signs(pulse and blood pressure). Missed a Dose
If you have missed a dose of Ona Tab, then take it as soon as you remember. There should be a gap of at least 6 hours between two doses. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once....
