Description
Nitrotech tablet is used to treat insomnia (difficulty in sleeping). This medicine belongs to the Benzodiazepines class of medicines, which are sedative-hypnotic medicines. It contains nitrazepam as
its main component. This medication has a better advantage since its toxicity is significantly less in overconsumption, and the availability of a medicine to reverse its side effects makes it even easier. Nitrotech tablet can also be used as an anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and antiepileptic. This medicine will improve the onset of sleep, reduce intermittent awakening, and increase the total sleep time of the patient.

Nitrotech tablets come under the category D list and cannot be taken during pregnancy as they may pass on to the child and cause withdrawal symptoms in the child.
Breast Feeding

Can I take Nitrotech while breastfeeding?
A:
No, you cannot take Nitrotech tablets while breastfeeding as it passes through the breastmilk to the newborn infant. Chronic consumption of this tablet will cause physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms in the child. So it's not recommended to consume Nitrotech pills while breastfeeding.
Driving

Can I drive if I have taken the Nitrotech?
A:
You should not drive if you have taken a Nitrotech tablet because this medicine induces dizziness, drowsiness, and sleep on consumption. This can increase the tendency of accidents post-consumption. So it's not recommended to consume Nitrotech tablets while driving.
Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Nitrotech?

Alcohol should not be consumed with Nitrotech tablets. This medicine tends to increase the side effects of alcohol. So, it's not recommended to consume Nitrotech tablets with alcohol.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Nitrotech tablet belongs to the class of Benzodiazepines. It acts by binding to a particular receptor called the BZD receptor (Benzodiazepine). This BZD receptor is an inhibitory Neurotransmitter GABA A receptor.
When the Nitrotech tablet is given, it binds to this receptor in the brain (limbic area and reticular formation). It increases the level of GABA, which reduces the excitability in the brain. This will induce sleep, reduce anxiety and control convulsions....
Directions for Use
- Nitrotech tablets can be swallowed whole, crushed, or dissolved in a liquid.
- It is usually given as a night dosage to prevent the side effects and help overcome insomnia.
- It can be given with or without food as its absorption is not influenced by food.
- The expiration date of the Nitrotech tablet must be checked before consumption.
- Please inform your doctor if you feel that the Nitrotech tablet is causing many side effects.

Interactions with food items
- You can continue your usual diet as this medicine does not interact with any food.
Storage and disposal
Nitrotech tablets should be taken according to the dose and the time advised. It is preferable to take the medication at night. If you have forgotten to take a dose and recall within a short while of missing it, you can take it. But you should not take it if you recall after a long gap. Do not double the number of Nitrotech tablets to compensate for the missed dose. Taking a double dose may cause serious side effects.
Store the medicine at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from heat and humidity. Keep out of reach of children. If there are some leftover Nitrotech tablets after completing the recommended course, dispose of them safely to avoid any accidental usage by children, pets, or any other person. Do not flush in the toilet....

Overdose
Nitrotech tablet overdose may occur due to accidental consumption or intentional or unintentional consumption. Even if it occurs, an overdose is not a severe condition as these have a very high therapeutic index i.e as many as 20 Nitrotech tablets will not usually endanger life. Overdose to this medicine may induce mild to moderate central nervous system depression. The patient may also have confusion, dysarthria, nystagmus, lethargy, ataxia, areflexia, hypotonia, seizure, hypotension, and respiratory depression. Q: I used to fall asleep with a Nitrotech tablet initially. Now, I am not able to fall asleep. Why is that so?
A: Continued overconsumption of Nitrotech tablets causes tolerance to the action of sedation and gradually wanes the action. So consult your doctor and get your medication changed.
Q: Is Nitrazepam stronger than diazepam?
A: Nitrazepam has a longer duration of action, and taking into consideration its serum concentration levels; it was observed that NItrazepam is stronger in action than Diazepam.
Q: Will overconsumption of Nitrotech tablets cause death?
A: Very few or hardly any death cases have been reported from overconsumption of Nitrotech tablets. Its overconsumption causes specific side effects which can be managed on a supportive basis, and the availability of its antidote, tablet Flumazenil, has made it more accessible.
