Interactions with other medicines

Terbutaline with beta-blockers decreases the action of terbutaline
Halothane anaesthesia increases the risk of abnormal heart rhythms
Diuretics, methylxanthines and corticosteroids can cause low potassium levels when given with terbutaline
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants, when given with terbutaline, can cause side effects on blood vessels

Terbutaline weakens heart muscle function resulting in low oxygen supply to the muscle. This can lead to changes in ECG pattern, low potassium levels and abnormal heart rhythms
