Mupivate cream is an antibiotic medicine containing mupirocin as its active ingredient. Mupivate cream is used for the treatment of bacterial skin infections. It works by interfering with protein and

RNA synthesis in bacterial cells. It helps in relieving symptoms such as rashes, swelling, redness, pain, pus and itching that are commonly associated with skin infection. Pregnancy

Can I use Mupivate cream during pregnancy?

Mupivate cream has to be applied on topical surfaces and the quantities which might get absorbed from the skin are too little. Thus, the chances of any effect in pregnancy are low. However, the Mupivate cream should only be used if prescribed by your doctor. If prescribed, do not use this cream on larger skin areas for a prolonged period.

Breast Feeding

Can I use Mupivate cream while breastfeeding?

A very low amount of the components of this medicine is known to pass through the breastmilk of the nursing mother. However, limited information is available on the effects of this medicine on newborns. Hence, it is not recommended for use in nursing mothers unless recommended by the doctor.
