Medical Description
Mucinac 600 tablets are a mucolytic agent used to treat respiratory diseases characterised by excessive mucus. It relieves chest congestion or tightness caused by excess mucus in various respiratory tract conditions, including bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and bronchiectasis. Its main component is acetylcysteine.
A few other tablets with the same composition are Effenac 600mg, Mucaryl 600mg, Mucotab Et 600mg, Mucomix Et, and Lumenac 600mg. You may experience drowsiness (use caution when driving) or nausea or vomiting (small, frequent meals may help). This tablet is effervescent in nature and should be taken as directed by your doctor, in the doses and duration prescribed. Do not skip a dose or consume more than the recommended amount by your doctor.
Headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, fever, and skin rashes are a few common side effects that can be seen after taking this medicine. Although not everyone gets them. Side effects often improve as your body gets used to the medicine.
While using this medication, avoid alcohol and other prescription or OTC medications that might cause dizziness. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, and about your detailed medical history.

- If you experience any difficulty in breathing, stop the Mucinac 600 Effervescent tablet immediately.
- You have a history of peptic ulcer disease and bronchial asthma.
- After taking this medicine, you experience any rashes or lesions on the skin or mucous membranes.
- If you have any history of intolerance to histamine, you should avoid long-term treatment.
Directions for Use
- Take Mucinac tablet as advised by your doctor before or after your meals.
- Add the tablet in half glass of water and allow it to dissolve completely.
- Wait till the solution becomes clear stir and drink immediately.
Storage and disposal
- Store the Mucinac tablets in a cool and dry place.
- Keep it away from children and pets.
- Discard any unused medicine properly.
Quick Tips
- During the initial days of treatment, you may experience excessive bronchial secretion.
- Drinking plenty of fluids, such as water or clear broth, is recommended while taking this medication. This helps loosen mucus and keep your throat lubricated.
- If your cough is accompanied by green or yellow mucus, fever, or lasts longer than 7 days, consult your doctor.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using Mucinac.
- Mucinac may worsen stomach ulcers. Consult your doctor if you have a history of ulcers.
- You should not take cough syrups with this medication without consulting your doctor. Some cough syrups suppress cough and can interfere with the medication's action. Ask your doctor to suggest an effective cough syrup that can help increase expectoration or sputum.
- Please be cautious while using Mucinac 600 mg Tablet if you have asthma, as it could make the condition worse. It's important to provide your doctor with a complete medical history, including any issues related to your liver, kidneys, heart, or any other health conditions, to ensure the safe use of this medication.
